Mind Map for Software Development - JUDE Mind Map and Office tools
A mind map is a graphical technique of taking notes and visualizing thoughts, objectives using a radiant structure. For Software Development, Mind Map could be a very effective way to gather Requirements from users and focus on primary factors when exploring user wishes.
On this page, we will introduce you the ability of JUDE to output Mind Map into documentations and vice versa.
Mind Maps is available in JUDE/Professional. Get JUDE/Professional evaluation license.

Save your Mind Map as image

* Saving Mind Map as image
  1. Go to [Tool] - [Export Image] in Main Menu
  2. Choose format you want to save as from the list.
  3. Choose where you would like to save the image
  4. Input the name for the image then click on [Save]

* Points
  • You can choose the format out of PNG, JPEG and EMF to save as.
  • Saving as PNG format is recommended if you want to use it as an image since PNG compresses the image better.
  • Saving as EMF format is recommended if you want to use the image on office tools as EMF format can stay clear without losses when being resized.

Copy your Mind Map image to Clipboard

You can copy your Mind Map image to Clipboard.

  1. Select topics that you would like to copy.
    (Go to [Edit] - [Select All] in Main Menu if you would like to copy the whole Mind Map.)
  2. Go to [Edit] - [Copy to Clipboard] in Main Menu.
    You can choose format you want to use out of whether BMP, PNG or EMF.
  3. You can paste it on office tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint by [Edit] - [Paste] or [Paste Specisl].

* Points
Try practical and useful shortcut keys!

  • [Ctrl+A] : Select all topics (means whole Mind Map) at once
  • [Ctrl+Alt+C] : Copy (BMP, PNG format)
  • [Ctrl + V] : Paste in office tools

* Try copy & paste Mind Map in EMF format on office tools!
Pasted image in EMF format will stay clear even after the size has been resized. Also by ungrouping the image, it will be taken apart in each object so you are able to modify topic branches and texts individually.

Paste images from other tools to Mind Map

You can paste images you have created with other tools to your Mind Map. There are two ways to paste image, either pasting wherever you want to paste in Mind Map or inside of particular topic.
* Pasting image wherever you want it to be
  1. Copy an image you want to use to Clipboard.
    (Choose an image and go to [Edit]-[Copy] or [Ctrl+C] to copy in most tools)
  2. Open Mind Map then do not select any topics in Mind Map.
    (Click on space in the Diagram Editor where there is no topics)
  3. Go to [Edit] - [Paste] in Main Menu or press down [Ctrl+V] to paste image.
  4. You can resize the image by dragging one of the corner boxes of image. If you hold [Shift] key down, you can resize with maintaining aspect ratio.

* Pasting image to particular topic
Images you insert this way will be transferred with topics when they are moved and also be invisible with topics when they are fold by [Alt + X].
  1. Copy an image you want to use to Clipboard
    (Choose an image and go to [Edit]-[Copy] or [Ctrl+C] to copy in most tools)
  2. Select a Topic where you would like to insert the image in.
  3. Go to [Edit] - [Paste] in Main Menu or press down [Ctrl+V] to paste image.
  4. You can resize the image by dragging one of the corner boxes of image. If you hold [Shift] key down, you can resize with maintaining aspect ratio.

Copy tree structure of Mind Map to other tools

You can copy tree structure of Mind Map in Text Editor (NotePad) or Excel.

  1. Select topics that you would like to copy.
  2. Go to [Edit] - [Copy] in Main Menu or press down [Ctrl+C] to copy.
  3. Open Text Editor (NotePad) or Microsoft excel then [Edit] - [Paste] or press down [Ctrl+V] to paste.

Create Mind Map by importing tree structure of topics from other tools

You can create a new Mind Map or add topics to existing Mind Map by importing a tree structure from other tools.

  1. Select texts you want to make a Mind Map of from Text Editor or Excel
  2. Go to [Edit] - [Copy] in Main Menu or press down [Ctrl+C] to copy
  3. Select a topic where you would like to insert new topics in JUDE then go to [Edit] - [Paste] in Main Menu or [Ctrl+V] to paste
  4. 4. A new branch is created under the selected topic and all copied texts appear as Mind Map topics.

* Points
It is the most powerful and convenience way to create Mind Map by pasting texts that are outlined hierarchically in Text Editor such as Notepad. Also you can generate Mind Map by importing Matrix data that you created in Excel in proper format.
