License

  1. Can I use JUDE/Community, the free version of JUDE, for commercial projects?

    You can use the diagrams or skeleton codes created by JUDE/Community as long as you accept END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT. However, it is recommended to use non-free version, astah* professional, astah* UML or JUDE/Professional, which includes customer support. (JUDE/Community has a restriction of the printing function, and JUDE logo will be printed on the printings.)
  2. Can I use JUDE at work on corporate PC with my personal license key?

    If your license is Machine Non-specific type, there is no problem in terms of our license policy. However, please refer your corporate regulations regarding the use of personal software on corporate PCs. Change Vision, Inc. will not take responsibility for any issues that arise under this circumstance.
    If your license is Machine Specific type, you cannot do it. It is against our license policy.
  3. Can I use JUDE on my personal PC with license key my corporate purchased?

    If your license is Machine Non-specific type, there is no problem in terms of our license policy. However, please refer your corporate regulations regarding the use of software on your personal PCs with licenses that corporate purchased. Change Vision, Inc. will not take responsibility for any issues that arise under this circumstance.
    If your license is Machine Specific type, you cannot do it. It is against our license policy.
  4. What happens if I resign membership of ChangeVision Members?

    If you resign from ChangeVision Members service, your account and license information will be cleared completely and they cannot be restored. You can continue to use JUDE with your license however you will not be able to...
    • receive Technical Support
    • extend support period with support renewal license
    • reissue your license key
    • receive promotions, discounts..etc
    • any other benefit we may offer in the future
    If support period of your license is still valid, you can sign up to ChangeVision Members and register your license again.
  5. How can I see information of my license (License Type and support period)?

    1. Login to ChangeVision Members and click on [License Management] button.
    2. Your license information will be shown in a list.
  6. I lost the Validation Code. Where could I find it?

    If you have already registered your license, you can find the Validation Code on ChangeVision Members site. * Validation Code cannot be found in any e-mails you have received from us or in License Key files.
    * Please contact distributor if you have not registered the license yet.
  7. I lost my license key file (.xml). How can I reissue it?

    You can reissue your license key file by following this procedure.
    1. Login to ChangeVision Members.
    2. Click on [License Management] button.
    3. Click on [Register/Re-send Product Licenses] button.
    4. License information will be displayed. Please make sure that all contents are correct then press [Reissue license key].

JUDE/Professional User License Registration

  1. How can I register JUDE User License and set it in JUDE/Professional?

    1. Login to ChangeVision Members and click gLicense Registrationh button.

    2. Enter your License Number and Validation Code.
      Enter License number and Validation code.
    3. Press down [Next] button.
    4. License information is displayed. Please make sure all content is correct. And, press [Register License] button.
    5. License registration is completed and e-mail is sent to you.
    6. Open the e-mail you received from us. (The e-mail title should be "[info] JUDE/Professional license") Access the URL described in the e-mail to download your license key file.
    7. Launch JUDE and specify the license key file in [License Management] dialog.

  2. Can I transfer my license to someone else and how?

    Do you have any JUDE licenses that are registered with someone, but they have moved to different department or quit the job? If so, please contact us and we will let someone else to take over and use the license.
    Transferring applies to following license types:
    - JUDE/Professional User license / Support Renewal license
    - JUDE/Share Server license / Support Renewal license
    Since January 1st of 2010, take-over of license will be made only if the license's support period is valid. If the target license's support is expired, a support renewal license needs to be purchased to have the support up to date before you apply for transferring.
    If your cooperation/organization holds more than one license, an administrator can apply for all the licenses at once.
    The transfer of JUDE/Professional User license is allowed under the following conditions:
    • The license is possessed by the corporation.
    • New user who receives the license is within the same corporation

    If it is under the right conditions, please request the permission of the license transfer via email including following information.

    • License Information :
      License Number, Validation Code. (Lost your Validation code? please check here)
    • Information about current user and contact :
      User Name, Email address, Cooperation Name, Department, Postal Code, Address, Phone number
    • Information about new user and contact :
      User Name, Email address, Cooperation Name, Department, Postal Code, Address, Phone number
    • Purpose of transferring :
      Retirement of the current user, Employee movement, Project Concluded, Project transfer or others (Specify why)

    [NOTE]

    • A new license key will be issued for new user when transferring the license. The old license key must be discarded completely.
    • Your request will be refused if provided license number and validation code do not match.
    • Support period will be taken over to new user as well when transferring the license.

JUDE/Professional Support Service, Support Renewal License

  1. Do you provide support for JUDE/Professional?

    Yes. We provide support to customers during the support period.
    • User License
      If you purchase JUDE/Professional User License, one-year support will come with it. After your support expires, you can keep receiving support by extending support period with Support Renewal License ($ 75).
    • Timed License
      If you purchase Timed License, you can always receive support from us as long as your license period is valid. You can keep receiving support by purchasing another Timed License.
  2. What kind of support can we receive during support period?

    We provide following supports to customers during the support period.
    • Updates to the latest version including new features and bug fixes. (Upgrade fee may be required for major upgrades.)
    • Q&A Services
      You will get a prompt response to your inquiry or technical questions by submitting through Product Support Forum.

  3. How can I extend my support period?

    By purchasing a Support Renewal License from our distributor. You will receive new license number and validation code after purchase, by simply registering them on ChangeVision Members site, it will provide you an additional year of support. Please see [How do I register a support renewal license?] for more details.
  4. How much does it cost to extend my support period?

    $ 75.00 for one year extension. You need to purchase a support renewal license ($ 75.00) to extend your license. One support renewal license provides one additional year of support.
  5. What happens when my support period expires?

    • User License
      If you have JUDE/Professional User License, you can continue to use JUDE/Professional, however you won't be able to upgrade to the newer version and you are no longer eligible to receive technical support.
    • Timed License
      If you have Timed License, you won't be able to use JUDE/Professional when your support period (license) expires. Another Timed License is required if you desire to continue to use JUDE/Professional.
  6. How does Support Renewal License apply?

    By registering a Support Renewal License, your support period will be extended for additional one year from the date when the former support period expired (Case 1) or the date when your current support period expires (Case 2).

    If you have Timed License and want to get an extension, another Timed License is required. Timed License cannot be extended by a Support Renewal License. Please see Can I extend my Timed License and how? for details.
    * When you purchase a User License, one year support will come with it.
  7. How do I register Support Renewal License?

    • Support extension needs to be processed in account where your former license is registered. So do not create new account when your information such as your e-mail address has been changed. You need to login to ChangeVision Members with your old e-mail address then change your information before you register Support Renewal License.
    • You must purchase a Support Renewal License to get an extension.
    • See FAQ 6 to see how a Support Renewal License applies.

    2. Login to ChangeVision Members then click on [License Management].
      (If your e-mail address has been changed, log in with your old e-mail address then change it to a new one from [Change Settings])
    3. Select target license to extend the support period and go to next step.
    4. Enter your License number and validation code.
    5. License information will be displayed. Please make sure all content is correct and press [Register License] button.
    6. License registration is completed and e-mail is sent to you.
    7. Open the e-mail you received from us. Access the URL described in the e-mail to download your new license key file. *Do not open the license key file (.xml)
    8. Launch JUDE and go to [Tool] - [License]. Specify your new license key file in [License Management] dialog.
  8. My support has been expired for more than a year. Can I still renew my support period?

    Yes. You can renew your license by registering Support Renewal License. One support renewal license provides one additional year of support. By simply registering licenses as many as you need, you can extend your support period to the present. (e.g. If your support expired one year and half ago, register two support renewal licenses.) It is cheaper to get an extension with Support Renewal license rather than repurchasing another User License within 6 years of the initial purchase.

JUDE/Professional Timed License

  1. How does Timed License apply?

    There are three cases as below.
    Case 1 (Add new Timed License directly to current one)
    Case 1: Add new license directly.

    Case 2 (Add new Timed License as another license independently)
    Case 2: Add new license as another one.

    Case 3 (Add new Timed License after former one has expired)
    Case 2: Add new license after former one.


  2. How can I register a Timed License? (Adding a new Timed License)

    1. Please have a license number and Validation code of Timed License ready. (You can get them from distributor where you purchased Timed License.)
    2. Login to ChangeVision Members then click on [License Registration].
      (If your e-mail address has been changed, log in with your old e-mail address then change it to a new one from [Change Settings])
    3. Enter your License Number and Validation Code of Timed License.
      Enter License Number and Validation Code.
    4. Select the start date of validity period.
    5. License information will be displayed. Please make sure all content(e-mail address and license information) is correct and press [Register License] button.
    6. License registration is completed and e-mail is sent to you.
    7. Open the e-mail you received from us. (The e-mail title should be "[info] JUDE/Professional license") Access the URL described in the e-mail to download your license key file.
    8. Launch JUDE and specify the license key file in [License Management] dialog.
  3. Can I extend my Timed License and how?

    Yes, you can get an extension for your Timed License by simply registering another Timed License.
    1. Please have a license number and Validation code of Timed License ready. (You can get them from distributor where you purchased Timed License.)
    2. Login to ChangeVision Members then click on [License Management].
      (If your e-mail address has been changed, log in with your old e-mail address then change it to a new one from [Change Settings])
    3. Select target license to extend and go to next step.
    4. Enter your License number and validation code.
    5. License information will be displayed. Please make sure all content is correct and press [Register License] button.
    6. License registration is completed and e-mail is sent to you.
    7. Open the e-mail you received from us. Access the URL described in the e-mail to download your new license key file. *Do not open the license key file (.xml)
    8. Launch JUDE and go to [Tool] - [License]. Specify your new license key file in [License Management] dialog.
  4. Can I transfer the holder of Timed License to someone else?

    There is no need to change the holder of Timed License because Timed License is a Machine Specific type of license which allows anyone to use JUDE on a single machine per license. If you want to change a machine to use JUDE on with Timed Machine license, please see next question for how.
  5. Does Timed License Key file transfer automatically when I change a machine to use JUDE/Professional on with Timed License?

    When you change a machine to use JUDE/Professional on, you need to uninstall JUDE/Professional completely from former machine before you install it on new machine. Timed License key file and project files (.jude) will not be transferred automatically and you need to transfer them by yourself. Please refer to under "Limited Time License (Timed License) of Article 7. Special Agreement in END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT.
  6. In which cases should I purchase Timed License?

    Timed license is a Machine Specific License which can be used for limited period and will be a good option if..
    • your project term is short and you need to use JUDE during the project term only.
    • you want to use JUDE among several project team members on specific machines
    • you want to save the cost to use JUDE.
